Ice Run for November 1, 2011

It was pretty foggy and cold for this ice run.
We
had planned it to have as little ice as possible left, on order to clean out
the sarcophagus and remove all the frost.
We succeeded beyond our best expectation, in fact so much so,
that we suspected our previous ice was either short count, or somehow inferiorly
made. We looked back at last months amount of ice left...and compared it to
some other months. It didn't appear to be any less than several times before,
yet it seemed to have almost completly sublimed.
After thorough inspection, it was also determined that the
cryonic chamber insulation is also becoming compromised. It's getting old and
some of it needs replacement. Combination of a little short on the ice (an ongoing
battle with the ice company), a long and somewhat warm 5 weeks, and slightly
compromised insulation...gave us the least amount of ice left we've ever had.
Estimated that less than 50pounds remained

We did clear approximately 50 pounds of water frost out of
the cryonic chamber, making room for our ice slabs.

Note that our temp had risen to only minus 10....

We filled the chamber up with 1700 pounds and it looked good.
Since it was All Saint's Day....we also celebrated just a bit
and had some eyeballs and assorted nosh.
