Ice Run Report for November 5, 2008

The weather was reasonable but had been unseasonably warm. I had a lovely Assistant today who was also getting material for a story...

The slices from last time don't seem to be fairing as well as the blocks did....

Our temperature is a bit higher than we like.

There was not a lot of ice left, we estimated no more than 200 pounds.

The beauty of our system is that it doesn't need large amounts of ice to maintain a temperature range.

Even with so little ice, we still have cryonic temps.

Of course, once we fill up the chamber with 1400 pounds of new ice, the temperature will drop back to its normal -90F.

It appears that the slabs are not as long lasting as the blocks. We will need to add more ice to compensate.

The rate of sublimation was evident in all the crystals....
