Ice Run of December 3, 2008

Its almost Xmas, and naturally, we cut Grandpa a new Xmas tree....

Weather has been colder, but we are still having excessive ice loss.

There is about the same amount of ice left this time as last....approximately 200 pounds.

We added even more ice this time than last....1600 pounds...and we'll see how well it fares....

Our initial temperature was up to -50F but soon dropped to -100.

The basic problem is that the slabs have more surface area to sublime from....not like a solid block.

We loose our ice faster with smaller pieces. Next run, we will increase the ice amount again.

We carry about 800 pounds of ice in a 200 pound container....two times.

A total of close to 2000 pounds.

Ford Tough.

Some nice Crystal Critters were around, too.....

Next Ice run scheduled for New Years Eve!
